Who are we?
Bath Entrepreneurs is a society that aims to inspire and enable entrepreneurship among students at the University of Bath.
To reach this objective, as a society we organise a number of different events throughout the year, where students are given the opportunity to interact with successful entrepreneurs, who are eager to share stories regarding their entrepreneurial journeys with them. These events constitute a great learning opportunity for students, who can gain firsthand knowledge from the entrepreneurs’ experiences. Furthermore, they are kept constantly aware of the main trends and events that are occurring all around the world.
What do we do?
As a concrete example, two years ago we organised a one-day conference called BE2, during which we were pleased to listen to speeches given by incredible speakers, such as Ajaz Ahmed (founder of AKQA), to name one.
Interactive sessions were also organised with a VC partner to give insights on what funds look for and value in start ups.
The following year, we’ve organised a conference called DISRUPTION, where Anthony Thomson (founder of Metro Bank and Atom Bank) also participated. Themes such as the future of nutrition and automatic cars were discussed through panel formats.
On top of leading conferences, our aim is to build a community of student entrepreneurs through weekly gatherings, called An Evening with BE. These enable students to benefit from the creation of a network. It allows them to share new ideas, discuss trends, and find potential partners to start their own businesses.
This year, BE will introduce a new type of event: BE talks. During these we will have the pleasure of hosting well-known and successful speakers from the entrepreneurial community.
We have already booked BE talks with Marko Sjoblom ( Founder of Fiinu) and Mads Faurholt (Co-Founder of Rocket Internet, and also involved in Hello Fresh and many other successful startups).
For two consecutive years, BE has also organised Launchpad, a 24 hour Hackaton, during which students need to create a minimum viable product of a startup idea. They then have to present the idea in front of a jury, which is then in charge of electing a winner.
Why are we here to write?
BE’s main objective as a society it that to enable entrepreneurship among students. We are excited to be taking part in this writing project together with other Universities, and cannot wait to offer the community of readers a fresh perspective on business, as well as a taste of the next generation of entrepreneurs.
