Today we spoke to Matt Milligan, co-founder of Uhubs.
Uhubs, co-founded by Matt Milligan, helps Entrepreneurs & Modern Professionals grow and find purpose in their careers by developing new skills through tailored, in-person workshops & online content from World Class Experts.
Tell me about the day the idea was born. Where all ideas are born – on the beach of Barley. I was bouncing ideas at my co-founder while enjoying the sun. The idea has been at the back of my mind for some time, we wanted to create a flexible and inclusive for people to learn new skills to future improve their careers.
What was the biggest turning point in the life of Uhubs? It was a couple of months after the idea was born, at the time I worked at a consultancy firm and managed to get hold of some empty meeting rooms. This then enabled us to run two pilot sessions. We sent out 50 invitations and 48 accepted, this showed us that people were interested in our service without us having to spend a penny on the business.
Three top tips for aspiring entrepreneurs:
Test your idea before building anything.
Choose your Co-founder wisely, make sure it’s a person you trust, it really is a marriage.
Be lean. Enjoy being scrap, cut down your spending and bring back the hustle mentality.
What gets you out of bed every morning? The opportunity to help people to achieve personal fulfilment and goals. The most satisfying moments for me is that when looking back I have had a positive impact on others.
What did you want to be when you were little? A doctor -> Sportsman -> Entrepreneur
Favourite Disney character: This question takes some thought. Woody (Toy Story) would be my favourite.
What is Uhubs planning for the world next? We are planning to revolutionise the way in which we all learn new skills no matter where you are on the globe, and to democratize the access to experts and mentors to those less fortunate.
