Today we spoke to Peter Ward co-founder & Managing director of WeTrack
WeTrack, founded by Peter Ward in 2012, provides event operation software to big events, as well as a range of tools that help the event operators deliver these big events.
Tell me about the day the idea was born. It was born about 3 months before London 2012 opening ceremony. I was inundated with thousands of spreadsheets, the only thought going through my head was that there must be some better way of doing this. It was as simple as that.
What was the biggest turning point in the life of WeTrack? It was winning a contract in Dubai with Expo 2020, which will be the biggest event in the world. This event, lasting for 6 months, is having a whole city built for it and 25 million visitors are expected. This was a huge win. This was also our first exporting contract that we have won. Thanks to the investment we were able to develop our software immensely.
Three top tips for aspiring entrepreneurs:
Don’t compare your business to those in the Newspapers – it’s just depressing
Do your cash forecasts
Make sure you have an understanding partner
What gets you out of bed every morning? Just the desire to spread awareness that WeTrack exists and to help the event industry, which is one that I love.
What did you want to be when you were little? A Biology Professor or the Ambassador to Togo
Favourite Disney character: Baloo the Bear (Jungle Book)
What is WeTrack planning for the world next? In terms of the software we are building a range of machine learning platforms. The general plan is to build a community for event operators around the world to learn and share information.
