Pricesearcher - UK's largest Product Search Engine:
an interview with founder Samuel Dean

Miron Bykov London - 11/07/2019
Today we spoke with Samuel Dean - founder of Pricesearcher.

Founded in 2016, Pricesearcher today is UK’s LARGEST product search engine.

Tell me about the day the idea was born:
I remember working all day and all night in pursue of finding out if retailers would want to work with a search engine that specialises in pure product discovery. I was exhausted, however after all my research I came to the realisation that something like Pricesearcher didn’t exist for consumers. This realisation is all it took. I was gone. It was game over for me. I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

What was the biggest turning point in the life of Pricesearcher?
The day we received our first funding round. Simple. When the first investor said he was open to leading a round all I could feel was amazement – it was actually happening.

Three top tips for aspiring entrepreneurs:
  1. Believe in your mission
  2. Never spend a day not working on your mission
  3. Hire the best possible people you can

What gets you out of bed every morning?
My mission. To index all the world’s prices and to create an open shopping search experience for everyone. No matter how low I feel my mission doesn’t let me sleep, it’s what keeps me going day in and day out.

What did you want to be when you were little?
Unconventional, and definitely not an entrepreneur. I wanted to be a Fighter Pilot in the RAF.

Favourite Disney character?
Having spent a lot of time on this, my pick goes to Simba from the Lion King.

What is Pricesearcher planning for the world next?
In addition to us working on our app, we are planning to index more countries in order to make Pricesearcher available to more people all over the world.
